Content:

Mexican carnival skulls becomes very popular in the world. During this day, the students will get to know the tradition of the dia de muertos in Mexico and the symbolism of the skull in popular culture.First the basics of the facepaintings will be shortly shown, as preparation of the skin, the tools and the products.

Also the process of the creation of a skull is reviewed, with focus on the anatomy of the face, the parts of the skull and the adaption of the structure.
 

Focus / Activities:

• Morphology and Anatomy of the face
• application of the base
• Countouring
• Volumetry
• The importance of Lights and shadows for 3D effect
• Adjusting A Perfect Skull illusion to any kind of face
• decorative elements 

To bring (materials):

• own bodypainting kit (everything you need to paint on a model)
• synthetic hair brushes
• Sponge, wet washcloth
• Aquacolors (whatever brand you have); the colors to be used are, White, ivory, light brown, dark brown and black, (Bring a range of ocher colors.)
• Note book, Paper, pencil, charcoal pencil...
• water sprinkler
• Optional: Accessories for taking a photo (contact lenses, crown, plume, earrings)

Model:

• Every participant has to bring his own model. Models should be on site from 12:00pm for the entire day. If you do not have a model, bring a good sized mirror, to paint yourself.

Material costs:

• not defined yet, but will not exceed a maximum of € 15.-.
